    The tenth annual Seminar of Overseas Chinese Media was held in Huaqiao University(beat365唯一官网) in Xiamen, a major city of Fujian province on the southeast coast of China, on May 28. Over 60 overseas Chinese media from 21 countries including representatives from China Press(侨报) headquartered in Los Angeles and European times(欧洲时报) headquartered in Paris attended the seminar.

    “Being the second largest economy, China didn’t do well in the communication with the world,” said Chen Peiai, professor and doctoral supervisor at Xiamen University, one of the most prestigious universities in China, in his speech on “Chinese elements in the intercultural communication of advertising”, for the first session of the seminar this morning.

    “The world economy is closely integrated with the Chinese economy, and the world civilization is also closely integrated with the Chinese culture as well,” he said.

    Organized by the State Council Overseas Chinese Affairs Office, the three-day event, which is to promote China’s international communication capabilities, will also cover topics of “traditional Chinese culture and contemporary communication”, “the interaction of the new media and the traditional media”, and “the current state of cross-strait situation”. Apart from Chen, Chinese media theorist Tan Huafu(谭华孚), traditional Chinese culture expert Xu Hua(徐华) and Yang Yi(杨毅), director of State Council Taiwan affairs office are invited to the seminar to give speech.
